Counselling
Hi, my name is Bruce Reimer MA RCC, and I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I graduated with my Masters in Psychology - MFCC, in 1992, MBBS, California. Through my graduate studies and continuing professional development, I focus my therapeutic practice from the, Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural, and Narrative Therapy perspectives in my Counselling work. I enjoy the process of collaborating with individuals to genuinely hear their stories and discover each person's own unique understanding of who they are. Integral to the work we do together, I believe the process of change and renewal comes from within one's own self identity, and so the counselling experience helps to nurture and reveal these inner strengths and apply them to your life events.
Through my 32 years of experience, I have specialized in the areas of family systems work, parent-child challenges, anxiety and sensory challenges, childhood developmental needs, children with a diagnosis of autism, as well as general developmental characteristics. I work to understand the unique skills and abilities that each person possesses. The process of Counselling and Consulting helps to uncover these abilities for your child and enables a much higher quality of life both for your child, your family, and your support networks.
I provide counselling for adults who find themselves challenged by events or circumstances that life brings their way. This may include grief work, struggles with anxiety or shame, interpersonal challenges with family or other work/community members. Often having a deeper understanding of one's own life journey, through one's childhood and into the present, gives new strength and greater peace for the challenges and joys ahead.
Counselling can be a short term process of 1 to 6 sessions for solving issues or concerns in the Brief Therapy model. Alternately, I also provide longer term work with individuals who would like to explore the roots of patterns in their lives or to move through difficult life challenges that are limiting their coping strengths.
Fees
My fees are $130 dollars per 60 minute session. Looking for a good therapeutic fit with your counsellor is an important aspect of the counselling process. I would be glad to speak with you by phone to give you a sense of who I am and answer questions that you may have about my counselling style and the fit that you may be looking for.
Counselling fees may be provided through your employer's extended health plan or various BC funding providers such as ICBC or Victim's Assistance. Alternately you can have your EAP (employee assistance program) contact Bruce to arrange payment through this source as most EAPs use BC Registered Clinical Counsellors for these services. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, or e-transfer via your online banking. Receipts are provided as an emailed PDF or paper copy as per your choice.
